B.Sc. MLT

Bachelor of Science (B Sc) in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) is a four-year program that aims to train students in the basic Medical Laboratory Techniques used in Clinical Chemistry, Haematology, Blood Bank, Microbiology, Serology and Histopathology. This programme will provide the advanced knowledge of medical laboratory sciences facilitating the diagnostic services in the hospitals.

Objective of Program
This program will provide the knowledge and practical skill to the medical lab trainee who will be able to:
a. Learn and apply theory and techniques in the medical laboratory.
b. Solve a variety of problems pertaining to collection, transporting and handling samples and conducting tests on them
c. Demonstrate handling and preventative maintenance of instruments.
d. Give timely laboratory results to the clinicians
e. Perform and monitor quality control in the laboratory.
f. Demonstrate ethical behavior and decision making.

Scope & Employment Perspective of Program
Healthcare is one of the fastest growing sector and require trained manpower in MLT both in private and public sector. There will be a wide range of job opportunities for MLT qualified technologists in different clinical setups;
Public sector
a. Hospitals labs
b. Research labs
c. Medical Instrument companies
Private Sector
a. Private hospitals
b. Health care centers

A candidate for admission must fulfill the following criteria:

a. F.Sc. (Pre-Medical Group) or an equivalent examination of a board of secondary education with minimum 50% aggregate marks.

b. Candidates applying will be selected on open merit basis.

c. Male/female

d. Passed NUMS Entry Test

Prospective students need to apply online on NUMS website. After registration all candidates have to appear in written test.

Admissions open: July/August

Merit List display: Oct / Nov

Commencement of Academic year: 1st week of January

Fee will be announced at the time of admission opening.
