Next Generation Sequencer

Next Generation sequencing (NGS) or massively parallel sequencing refers to the new and exciting DNA sequencing technology which has revolutionized the field of Genomic Science. As opposed to Sanger sequencing that allows analysis of single sequence of interest at one point in time, NGS yields millions of sequenced DNA fragments in parallel enabling detection of full spectrum of genomic variation in a single experiment. Consequently the huge amount of genomic information generated with this technology has transformed the approach of the end users, whether medical doctors or research scientists.
Illumina’s MiSeq is the Next Generation Sequencing instrument that has lately been placed at Armed Forces Institute of Pathology. This high end diagnostic platform shall be used by all disciplines of Pathology to discover novel mutations and disease causing genes through Targeted Re sequencing, Small Genome Sequencing & RNA Sequencing i.e. Gene Expression a

Total Lab Automation (TLA)

AFIP Lab being the tertiary care facility remains abreast with the latest technology. AFIP has inducted latest state of the art Total Lab Automation in the Chemical Pathology and Endocrinology Department, a step further in better patient care and diagnostics.

Installation of new Gamma Camera

The nuclear medicine division of diagnostic imaging provides a full range of clinically focused diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Although sophisticated devices and cameras are already available at NMC AFIP, further advances are constantly being made and installation of this new SPECT Gamma Camera is another step towards the service of our people.
This new Gamma Camera systems has two large field of view detectors, that have the capability of acquiring data while in motion. The Gamma Camera is equipped with analog-to-digital convertors (ADCs) for signal processing and dedicated cardiac trigger for cardiac studies. High efficiency computers systems with the camera for acquisition and processing of various studies. The new systems have digital chain of detection and processing hardware. Typical spatial resolution is approximately 4 mm with Single-photon emission computed tomography. The new system will be utilized for functional and mor
